Having a masters degree in special education and endorsements in teaching English Language Learners, I understand that everyone has a different way of learning. I have worked with students with various needs successfully. I look forward to helping you achieve your full potential. During my career as a teacher I created many graphic organizers that improved students' reading and writing skills. My organizers are still being used at my former school today. Additionally, I created art projects that enhanced reading and math comprehension.

Experience

I was a a special education, language arts and ELL teacher for 24 years. I enjoy working with students individually and in small groups to help them become successful. Additionally, I am the author of 40 books for young people. They have won awards for best books in Social Studies and Children's Choice Awards. I was the Young Authors' coordinator at the school where I worked. During that time, 2 of our students won the citywide award for best entry.

I am very interested in cooking and baking. I am a 3 time in a row Pillsbury bake-off finalist. I have met people from all over the country in my cooking and baking endeavors. I have given cooking demonstrations involving how to win contests. Some of my recipes have won prizes and have been published in major cooking magazines. I am also an animal lover and enjoy gardening.
